I do not speak swedish at all, so I might be completely wrong. But the first review (Expressen) does not sound too positive to me. Did this guy really write something being a parody of themselves?? And did he compare them (or the outfits) to Disneyworld??
I really hope I got that one wrong ;).
Anyway, thanks for the links, Kumiko :).

I HATE that the critics, after years and years of The Hives, keep criticising to Pelle, for his flattery and false arrogance on stage!!

You'll try to discredit them, but you miss something... They are The Hives.

PS: then, I love Disneyworld xD

http://www.aftonbladet.se/nojesbladet/musik/rockbjornen2010/article7208363.ab here is the review from swedens biggest newspaper. The only bad thing they had to say about it was that you wanted more. Hives also played 2 new song they have made. One is call "Bad Call" and the other is called "Patrolling days". They were amazing songs!

Kumiko さんのコメント...

I think so too. I do not think this to say a good thing.
However, I believe that The Hives does it.
Nadine and Ada, thank you for your comments everytime!

And...Anonymous. (Who are you??)
Thank you for your nice link!!
I updated at this news.

Then, I want to listen to new songs! :D

Nadine さんのコメント...

THANK YOU for the additional links! I am so curious about the new songs!!

Seriously, Patrolling days was one of the greatest songs i´ve ever heard. And im not so easily impressed. But when you heard that song, all your mind was thinking of was "Time to get crazy!"

Nadine さんのコメント...

Anonymous, you make me super- excited about this new song!! You didn´t by any chance film this song??
Or know someone who did ;)?

Ada さんのコメント...

I'm agree with Nadine! We NEED to hear that song!!!!

And Kumiko, thanks to you for this AMAZING blog! :D

If anyone could come up with a setlist of the gig at Siesta, it would make my day!

Nadine さんのコメント...

Alexander, here´s a site with a couple of Hives setlists:
www.setlist.fm/setlists/the-hives-3bd6d058.html
There´s nothing for Siesta so far, but maybe someone will post one later. I´d be interested in the setlist as well!

Alexander さんのコメント...

Nadine:
Thank you! I'll hope for someone to post i asap. I'm myself a musiccritic (don't worry, I'm on your side and the show was great) so I need the list today, så hopefully someone puts it in soon.

I also agree with Ada. Far too many critics hasn't, 15 years after The Hives debut, understood them. It's just because they're a swedish band - a nation were we have a tradition of not credit ourselves too much. Actually I thought Pelle was quite easy on the credits this concert.

Nadine さんのコメント...

Alexander, oh, if you need the setlist so fast, then this link might not be the right adress, because it usually takes some time until somebody uploads the setlists.
But maybe someone from the forum at the official homepage of the festival knows the setlist? Most of the people posting in these forums have been to the shows, so they might remember the songs.

Hey, swedish people should credit themselves EVERY DAY for having such a great music culture with so many good bands!!
If I was swedish, I would do so at least ;)....

Alexander さんのコメント...

Nadine: Yeah, I posted there to, and also mailed both The Hives media staff and those who run the Siesta Festival. Hopefully I'll get an answer soon, and then I promise to post it here as well if you'd like.

Have you heard of "jantelagen" as we call it here in Sweden? "Don't think you're more than anyone else". This is sadly still very common here and that's why many of the older critics have such big problems with The Hives. I'm sure you've heard this before. But if I had a band, wouldn't I as well think of it as the best band in the world? Of course I would, not thnk of it as "one amongst others".

I'm very proud of many swedish bands and you can only love The Hives coming from such a small city, for their strife to become the biggest band in the world.

Nadine さんのコメント...

Alexander, so I hope that you´ll find the setlist as soon as possible. If you could post it here, that would be really great!
And if I stumble across it somewhere by chance, I´ll let you know ;).
Ah, now I get why some of the critics do not like the Hives so much. They have a problem with their "big ego".
But what these critics don´t get, is the fact that the Hives do not think that they are more than anyone else (as persons). They just think THE BAND, their performance and their music is more (better) than other bands/ artists. That is a difference, at least in my opinion.

And I agree with you: if you´re in a band, you should believe in your band and its skills, so it´s kind of important to think that it´s better than other bands.
That must be a main reason for going on playing music. Otherwise one might just quit...

But it´s interesting to know these things about the critics, Alexander. Since you said that "older critics" think this way: do "younger" critics not have a problem with bands like the Hives and their "ego"?

Alexander さんのコメント...

Nadine: No, I don't think younger critics as myself are that sensitive to that sort of talk. I think, at least here in Sweden, the younger generations are born and raised in a more individualistic society. We are raised to put ourselves at first and not to rely on the society to help us. We learn how to always stick up for ourselves, in a way older generations didn't.

It might sound pessimistic, but the most a bit older critics just love Bruce Springsteen and his way to always put the audience first. So do The Hives in my opinion, but with a glimpse of humouristic self-righteousness. I'm not sure that humour goes well with older critics sense and sometimes for them it comes in the way of the music.

I (perhaps somewhat therefore) loved it when Pelle at the concert said "hey, look at that screen - there I am. It's even bigger than my ego". I don't think that's egotalk at all, just humour.

After all, i was born in the 80's and have missed out so many great historic rockbands. Of course I want to experience one that is more of my generations rockband, and therefore The Hives are perfect.

Ada さんのコメント...

Oh! Alexander, I saw your post in the forum of siesta festival, I don't understand swedish but google translator helps me xD Have you recorded the whole concert? Can you tell us how the new songs sound? :)

So "Don't think you're more than anyone else"... It's a good popular phrase! But I would add "or less than anyone else" :)
But I still thinking that their big ego it's just fake or maybe sometimes exaggerated, like you said, just humour :) By the way, Pelle goes better with the years, what a GREAT phrase xDD

Kumiko さんのコメント...

Alexander,
Thank you for your comments!
I thought that your opinion was very precious.
And, they are professional.
I like The Hives doing always a performance beyond the expectation.

Nadine さんのコメント...

@Alexander, thanks for your comment and for explaining the differences between the older and the younger critics.

As for the "older" critics:
I think that these people should be able to put personal preferences aside (at least as far as that is possible; I suppose that is kind of hard).

But critics should try to judge the show based on objectiv facts such as music, sound, performance, energy, on-stage presence...

Alexander, I absolutely agree with you: the Hives also put the audience first, cause they usually seem to give 100% to put on a great show.

Actually I would miss something if Pelle stopped doing his "ego talk". To me, it is a huge part of the show and I think it is so extremely entertaining.

And if these critics do not get the irony and the humour, then they must be pretty insensitive. I mean, it is so obvious that Pelle goes way over the top with what he says.

By the way: I LOVE what he said about the screen and his ego. This is so funny, made me laugh out loud!

Alexander, I also was born in the 80s... so yeah, too bad that we missed some pretty good older bands ;)).
But as I mentioned before: you in Sweden are so blessed, cause you have such an amazing music scene, so there are still many pretty good bands you can enjoy :).

@Ada, you are right: adding "...or less than anyone else" makes the phrase better than the original one :)!!

And I agree with Ada: I would also like to know more about the new songs. We are both pretty curious, right Ada ;))?

Ada さんのコメント...

You're right, Nadine, as always ;)

Alexander さんのコメント...

Ada: I didn't record anything since my player was out of battery. It's a great loss. The new songs were graet, especially "Patrolling days" - I haven't heard so much punk in The Hives for quite a few years.

Kumiko: I all with you!

Nadine: I would miss that too, it's all a part of the play and how could they ever stop doing their thing? Thinking of themselves as the biggest band in the world for so mantý years, there is no turning back. At least it shouldn't be.

"Bad call" weren't as good as "Patrolling Days" since it didn't were so different from the last albums most trendsetting songs, but I'll guess you're (ore we're) all going to love when you here it. I can't wait until the next show this summer!

Nadine さんのコメント...

Alexander and Kumiko, here´s a link to one of the new songs:

I have listened to it a couple of times now, and it is soooo amazing :). So enjoy :).

And MANY THANKS to Ada for sending me this link :).

Alexander, have you found the setlist yet?
Since you wrote you can´t wait for the show in summer: so you´re gonna see them again? That´s great :).
I´m gonna see them this friday, and I am already so excited :).

Ah Ada, you deserve an award for finding so many great pics :)).
